International News: Allures Yachting is the winner

Allures Yachting wins Bateau Bleu 2009.

By IBI Magazine. Allures Yachting, a French boatbuilder specialising in aluminium-hulled sailboats, has received the Bateau Bleu Award 2009, which this year was awarded under the theme ‘Management of Onboard Waste’.

The prize was awarded for the fifth time by French nautical federation FIN.

Judges chose Allures Yachting from a list of ten projects, citing the sorting of waste aboard and education of boat owners among the reasons for their selection.

Three other projects submitted for the prize also garnered the attention of the jury — Flaveo for its waste collection and compaction, Detoutemps for its Box-Bin system, and Alliaura Marine for its onboard waste compacter.

The Bateau Bleu Award is open to anyone and is intended to encourage R&D into technologies for protecting the marine environment. The award carries a prize of €20,000.

The next Bateau Bleu Award has been themed ‘Production and Management of Onboard Energy’ and concerns pleasure boats under 24m (79ft). The theme is deliberately vast, including every system of production, storage and management of energy onboard and particularly the integration of these elements.

The deadline for entries is September 30, 2010.
